Does anyone know if the wireless version of the xbox 360 controller is compatible with windows xp? I have the play and charge kit and plugged it into my pc’s usb port after installing the driver but the controller wouldn’t install (the found new hardware wizard couldn’t find the software). anybody know anything?

  1. Hey, ok i had the same problem. The wireless one needs a wireless receiver, you can buy it any where, Wallmart, Bestbuy, Kmrat, and others like them. The cord controller is the only one out of the 2 that you can plug right in to the computer. The receiver is ment for the Computer and the wireless controller only, the receiver aether comes with the drivers in side the receiver or come with a CD (which might come with other kewl programs) but you might need internet. If i was you i get the Official XBox 360 receiver. Theres also a program you can get from there site or maybe the receivers CD, what it does is, it has this small xbox bar pop up to tell you if it is hooked up right or if there is something wrong with you. but noin to big.

Now the difference between the 2 are, well the cord and with the wireless one you will have to get a wall charger for the xbox 360 battery or get the replaceable battery hook up and buy rechargeable battery’s. because even if you hook it right up to the computer it wont charge it (from what i have seen) but you might want to look it up just incase before buying anything.

Another thing is if you are goin to use it for gaming make shore you check to see if it is compatible with the game (which is most new games of 2007 but not all of them) or make shore if the game lets you use Controller//Joysticks. Some games will let you use joysticks but not all controllers.
