Will I be able to play PS3 games on a PS4 in any way?

I missed out on PS3 for various reasons. I’m thinking on getting a PS4 but how will I be able to play the PS3 exclusives I missed out on? I’m aware that PS4 isn’t backwards compatible, so how will I be able to play the PS3 games? Will they be released on the PSN or something?

  1. It has been mentioned that PS1,2, and 3 games will be released as digital downloads in the future through the Gaikai cloud gaming service that Sony bought. I imagine that will begin next year. They haven’t said which PS3 titles would be made available, but they did say that it wouldn’t include the entire PS3 game list.

  2. No. The PS4 uses a completely different architecture than the PS3 and is not backwards compatible, at all. There is talk of possibly porting and streaming PS1/2/3 games through Gaikai service which starts 2014, but there’s no official word on exactly when the games will be made available.
