You’ve probably made a copy of a music CD or burned a favorite mix of yours on a blank disc before. If you own an xbox, this might have gotten you to thinking about whether it’s possible to copy xbox games.
Most people are used to making copies of their music CDs, but they aren’t sure how to translate that into copying their Xbox games. In fact, I would imagine a lot of people simply figure it’s impossible.
After getting a ton of emails asking how to do this, we thought a quick article would be helpful.
Now, we are not writing this article so that people can make illegal copies of Xbox games! Our goal is to illustrate how to make backup copies of the games that you actually own. This is completely legal, and it gives you a way to make sure you have a copy in case something happens to the original.
With that out of the way, let’s get to it! We don’t want to put a damper on things, but we needed to make that clear.
Now don’t worry. We’re not going to throw a bunch of technical or complex instructions at you. Our goal is to make this as easy and painless as possible for you.
At this point, you might even be saying to yourself, can’t I use the same software I use to burn my CDs to make copies of my Xbox games?
Many people have tried this – I admit that even I did a couple years ago. I quickly found out that it didn’t work (and if I remember correctly, I wasted a few blank discs at the same time!)
What’s the problem with this approach?
All video games come with a copyright protection that is put on the disc. This protection makes it impossible for your computer to automatically be able to recognize the data on the disc. Since your computer can’t read the data, it’s impossible for it to produce a copy.
So what’s the workaround?
You are going to need a program that has been programmed to get past the guards that are on game discs.
There’s a few of these programs around. They use an advanced technology that makes it possible for your computer to “read” game discs and produce copies. I’m not sure exactly what the secret behind the programming of this software is, but once it’s installed you’re able to copy video games in a snap.
All you have to do is install the program, and your computer will then be able to get past the copyright protections on the disc. You will then be able to copy your Xbox games.
All you do is put in the game, allowing your computer to make a copy of it onto your hard drive, and then insert a blank disc and wait for your computer to copy it back onto the CD.
Now, that might sound overly simple, but really that’s all there is to it. Once the software is installed, all it takes is a couple of clicks and you’re on you way.
Know that I have this on my computer, I have gotten into an easy routine. Whenever I get a new game, I throw it in my laptop, make a copy, and store it away so that I have a backup. This way if anything happens to the original I know I have a copy waiting for me.
You shouldn’t have to fork over too much cash for a game copying program. You can get a program that will copy xbox games and all other types of video game discs for under $50.
OK – we won’t waste any more of your time! You’re probably eager to get going.
