Does PlayStation 3 play ALL PS2 games?

Does it have backwards-compatibility for all PS2 games? The reason is I might get Tomb Raider Legend for my PS3, but I don’t want the triple HD pack.
Update:
I have the Slim PlayStation 3.

  1. Current PS3s do not have compatibility for any PS2 games, and the 60GB original that does plays about 95% of them. They’re kinda rare now though and you’d have to look on eBay and the like for a good 60GB.

  3. PS3 Slims can not play disc-based PS2 games, period, and there is nothing you can do to make it play disc-based PS2 games.

Only three PS3 models play disc-based PS2 games, and all of them have 4 USB ports (if your PS3 has 2 USB ports, which all Slim models do, then you can not play disc-based PS2 games). The 20GB and 60GB can play 99% of disc-based PS2 game, the Limited Edition 80GB MotorStorm and MGS4 Bundle PS3s can play 80% of disc-based PS2 games.

If you want to play disc-based PS2 games, you will need a PS2.

    *EDIT*

All PS3s can play disc-based PS1 games, which is 99% (even the PS1 can’t play all PS1 games).

  4. No, unless you have one of the very first PS3s that came out then you probably won’t be able to play all of your PS2 games.

  5. If you have a slim you have backwards compatibility with. nothing except the PS2 classics available on the PS Store. The 20 and 60 GBs had maybe 98% compatibility and the 80GBs had maybe 80% because they were partially software based. Any system with 2 USB ports can’t play PS2 (except PS2 Classics). No PS3 can play 100% of PS2 games as far as BC ones are concerned. You need a PS2 if you want to do that.
