  1. Any laptop 5400rpm SATA 2.5 inch HDD will work! Samsung, seagate (maxtor), and western digital all make great hdds!

I personally upgraded my 60GB PS3 with the Samsung Spinpoint M6 500GB SATA 2.5 inch HDD and it works great!

I bought it in Jan ’09 and I think I paid less than $100! Of course do you research and get the hdd you want but make sure it’s a laptop 2.5 inch SATA HDD!

  2. as long as its a 2.5inch sata at 5400rpm then it should work fine. Western Digital is the best in my opinion. If its 7200rpm or higher it spins faster making more heat. Which can cause your ps3 to overheat. The link has a list of hard drives that will work with your ps3 on amazon so you can get an idea about price and sizes. The 500gb western digital scorpio blue on the top of the list is the one I have, Its only $70.
