Cannot connect PS3 to HDTV through HDMI cable?

I have a HDTV and bought a HDMI cable to connect my PS3 to it. It was hooked up and working for a couple of months with no problems until I unhooked it to take it on vacation and left the cable behind. I came home to rehook it up through the video output seetings on the display tab. Unlike what I hyave done before the screen went blank for 30 seconds. I tried reseting the playstation, changing out the cable and checked to make sure everything was plugged in. I’ve done almost everything that I know of except doing the factory reset which would erase all of the saved data. I need help to know what to do!

  1. Just turn off your PS3 and then power it back on while holding the power button for about 15 seconds.

That should reset your a/v settings to whatever the PS3 detects as optimal.

  2. I’ve had the same problem before. I did the same thing you’ve done before, brought my ps3 with me and left the cable behind, because where i was going they had an HDMI cable already. The problem i found out was that under display settings, it was set for some other HD output such as 480p, 720p, something of that nature. So my ps3 was already checked for the output of the other tv, what i think you have to do is change one the Hd output to something else that corresponds with your tv, i did that and it worked.
