This morning i turned my 360 on and it froze up. i turned it on and off a few times. Sometimes it freezes at the beggining of the game other times right when i turn it on. Then about 5/30 times ive gotten the Red Ring Of Death. Anyone know what to do, is this the common red ring of death or something else?
Update:
i bought it used and ive had it since christmas of 07, i really dont wanna wait 3-4 weeks. Now i know most guides are a piece of crap, but this one looks good:[url is not allowed]
Update 2:
how much is it gonna cost me for microsoft to repair it? And how long is it gonna take

  1. Call Microsoft. Your box should still be under warranty, as they extended the RROD (red ring of death) warranty to 5 years, I believe. When we had the RROD, we sent it in and 3 weeks later got a new XBox.

[ETA] It shouldn’t cost you a dime. I bought my original XBox used and it got RROD, still got serviced for free, BUT had to wait the 3-4 weeks.

  2. You have to call the xbox customer support 1-800-469-9269. Your xbox has a hardware failure. The same thing happen to me last weekend. Last thursday I was playing Ninja Gaiden 2 and the game froze twice that day, so I decided to call it a day. Then on sunday when I turn on the 360 it froze right when it showed the logo and I turned it off again. Then I decided to turn it back on but this time I got the Red Ring of Death. Tried it five more times but kept getting the Red lights.

I decided to call customer support and they told me it was a hardware failure and I had to get it fixed. They will give you two options they could send you the box where you put in your 360 and they send you the mailing label but for you to receive the box it will take anywhere from 3 to 5 business days or you could supply your own box and print the mailing label and send it right away.

    Edit:

I wouldn’t buy any guides at all because if you open the xbox 360 and can’t fix the problem yourself that voids any warranty at all. Since you bought your console christmas ’07 that means you have a 1 year warranty on hardware that is not RRod issue but anything related to the RRoD issue then it’s 3 years.

It usually takes anywhere from 3 to 4 weeks to get your system repaired. Some people have said it took them 2 weeks others have said longer than 4, but on average it’s 3 to 4 though.

  3. You should put a couple of towels around it and let it overheat. it will work for about 5 days until you have to do it again Or you can send it to microsoft and let them fix it. My friend did that but it cost him 100$.

  4. why spend money on an xbox 360 when you can get it for free? just go to this site and complete a few quick tasks and they’ll send you one – at no charge!
